The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (Amcham T&T) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UK-based FuturePlus to push ESG leadership in Trinidad and Tobago’s private sector.
The signing took place at Part II of Amcham T&T’s 2025 ESG Conference: People, Purpose & Progress — Activating the “S” in ESG, hosted at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, on September 16.
“The event brought together business leaders, policymakers, and civil society stakeholders to explore how embedding the “S” in ESG can drive inclusive workplaces, resilient communities, and a sustainable future,” Amcham T&T stated.
Amcham T&T said through this special licensing agreement, its members will gain access to the FuturePlus platform at discounted rates.
“The platform empowers companies, investors, and asset managers to measure, manage, and report on their ESG impact through data-driven tools and actionable insights across five key themes: climate, environment, social, economic, and diversity & inclusion. This partnership makes it easier for companies of all sizes and stages of development to embed sustainability into their operations while also communicating progress transparently and effectively,” it stated.
Speaking at the signing, Amcham T&T’s chief executive officer Nirad Tewarie said the partnership is about moving from conversation to action.
“ESG is central to building stronger companies, healthier societies, and more resilient economies. By equipping our members with access to a practical tool like FuturePlus, we are helping them understand where they are, set clear targets, track progress, and deliver on their commitments to people, purpose, and planet. This will not only improve competitiveness but also position Trinidad and Tobago as a leader in sustainable business practices,” Tewarie said.
CEO of FuturePlus, Alex Smith, said her organisation was thrilled to partner with Amcham T&T to help advance sustainable business practices across Trinidad and Tobago.
“At FuturePlus, our mission is to make sustainability accessible, measurable, and actionable for organisations of all sizes. Through this partnership, we will provide Amcham T&T and its members with the tools and insights needed to effectively manage and track their ESG performance,” Smith said.
“By working together, we aim to support businesses in navigating their sustainability journeys, driving positive impact for their stakeholders, communities, and the environment, while supporting long-term growth and resilience,” she said.
“The collaboration between Amcham T&T and FuturePlus reflects a shared commitment to making sustainability accessible, achievable, and trackable for every business. By lowering barriers to ESG adoption and offering tangible support, this initiative ensures that companies can move beyond statements of intent toward measurable, impactful action,” Amcham T&T stated.
“The MOU signing marks a significant milestone in Amcham T&T’s advocacy on ESG, reinforcing our mission to provide our members with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to thrive in a values-driven global economy,” it stated.
