President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and US President Donald Trump met on September 23 (September 24, Tashkent time) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session.

The leaders discussed current issues and priorities for further developing the Uzbek-American strategic partnership. They reviewed the implementation of agreements reached following their telephone conversation on September 5.

President Mirziyoyev congratulated President Trump on his achievements in domestic and foreign policy, highlighting his efforts toward resolving international and regional conflicts. President Trump, in turn, expressed support for Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing the economy, improving citizens’ well-being, and strengthening the country’s international standing.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing political dialogue, increased exchanges at various levels, and the intensification of business contacts between the two nations. President Trump praised the successful meetings President Mirziyoyev held with leaders of over 50 major American companies and banks the day before.

A portfolio of contracts and prospective projects was highlighted across sectors including civil aviation, mining, critical minerals, finance, innovation, chemicals, and energy. The leaders noted that these initiatives are expected to create tens of thousands of new jobs in both countries.

The meeting concluded with President Mirziyoyev extending an invitation to President Trump for an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.

The discussions took place in an open, constructive, and friendly atmosphere, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to deepen their strategic partnership.
