Driver Dies in Big-Rig Collision on Interstate 5 [Sacramento, CA]

One Fatally Injured in Semi-Truck Collision near Sutterville Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (September 17, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, one driver was killed and another driver was injured in a big-rig collision on Interstate 5.

Police officers responded to the scene around 7:13 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just north of Sutterville Road.

Reports indicate that a pickup-truck was disabled after losing a tire on the roadway. Shortly after, the driver of a big-rig hauling two trailers was unable to stop in time and struck the disabled pickup-truck.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the driver of the pickup-truck dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

In addition, paramedics transported the other driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment of minor injuries.

Following preliminary duties, responding personnel did not believe impairment played a factor. However, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more details will be provided.
