The Detroit Tigers continue their pivotal series against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday night, with the battle for first place in the American League Central ongoing.
For the first time since April 22, the Tigers are not in sole possession of first place in the American League Central. The lead, which was well in double digits earlier this season, has withered away to nothing. In the first game of the crucial series on Tuesday night, Detroit squandered a 2-0 lead, giving up three runs in the sixth inning.
