Let’s be honest, Celtic fans felt like David Brent when they got the Europa League rather than the Champions League.

You know, when the woman in the chiffon scarf turned up at the pub on their blind date. Gutted, they were. Just like the Brentmeister General.

Ah but that’s in the past. Long gone. Time to get back down to business again. In the same way Brendan Rodgers is feeling after the club’s disastrous transfer window courtesy of Peter Lawwell and Co.

No point in crying over spilt semi-skimmed. The Scottish champions will be desperate to get their European campaign off to a flier but they won’t have it easy in the seething cauldron of Red Star Belgrade’s Marakana Stadium.

As previously mentioned – ad infinitum – Celtic didn’t have a good transfer window but the signing of Sebastian Tounetki has pleased some supporters after his performance against Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup drubbing at the weekend.

They will be hoping he can produce some more magic and the likes of Keletchi Iheanacho can grab the odd goal or two.
