Hideo Kojima and Pokémon GO Creator Are Making an AR Game

Kojima Productions has partnered up with Niantic Spatial to create a new AR title.

Hideo Kojima hosted the 10th Anniversary Showcase for Kojima Productions yesterday, Beyond the Strand. During the event, we received several new announcements, OD’s first gameplay, a promising update for Physint, and much more. The showcase also featured a unique AR title that Kojima is creating in partnership with the creator of Pokémon GO.

Could Death Stranding GO Arrive in the Near Future?

Spotted by GamesRadar+, a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s AR title was revealed yesterday, titled ‘A New Dawn’. It showcases different people exploring various real-world locations, with different augmented reality enhancements being added along the way. Later, a man wearing AR glasses is seen interacting with various AR elements, including drawing a circle on the ground, grabbing what appears to be a tree, and more. Interested readers can check out the trailer below:

Kojima stated that he cannot go into the details about the upcoming AR title; however, he did give us some clues. It seems that this game will be “like the real Death Stranding in the real world, and you can connect with people, or you can connect with the actual environment there in your city.” Kojima added that previously this was in virtual reality, now he’s “thinking about connecting with the real environment.”

Talking about Niantic Spatial, Monopoly Go maker Scopely acquired its games business for $3.5 billion earlier this year. Additionally, A24’s Death Stranding film will be telling an original story.
