Siddharth Joins Freida Pinto In 'Unaccustomed Earth' Adaptation; Here's What He Will Play

Unaccustomed Earth, a series based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s award-winning collection of short stories, gains another fan-favourite cast member: Siddharth, the actor from Rang De Basanti and Bommarillu, will co-star alongside Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) in the eight episodes.
From The Pitt’s John Wells and 3 Body Problem’s Madhuri Shekar, the series is an epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama about a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, desire, and belonging. Set in the interconnected immigrant hamlet of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Unaccustomed Earth follows a star-crossed romance between a devoted wife, Parul Chaudhury (Pinto), and her long-lost love — and the scandalous affair that ensues.
What Will Siddharth Play In Unaccustomed Earth Series Adaptation?
Siddharth will play Amit Mukherjee, Pinto’s character’s star-crossed love. Amit is a warm-hearted Bengali American man, born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who wears his emotions openly and gives of himself freely, sometimes to his own detriment. The friend all his own friends turns to in a crisis, Amit is dependable in moments of need but struggles to find stability in work or love. Just as his latest relationship begins to feel promising, his carefully balanced world unravels with the unexpected return of his long-lost love.
Siddharth is not new to Netflix viewers: Earlier this year, he starred in Test, a thrilling drama about three people whose lives converge at a cricket match, alongside actor Meera Jasmine.
Siddharth’s Latest Project: 3BHK
Siddharth was recently seen in 3BHK. Released in July this year, it centres around Prabhu, a middle-class boy played by Siddharth, who comes home to find his house flooded. Determined to improve his family’s situation, he focuses on his education and dreams of a better future. The film, which also stars Sarathkumar, Devayani, Meetha Raghunath, Chaithra J Achar and Yogi Babu.
News18 Showsha’s review of 3BHK read, “I wish 3BHK was a social commentary on the obsession with owning a house. It could have been a statement about the paradox of the middle-class dream of buying a home that, in essence, robs one of every other joy: a thesis that Balumahendra’s gut-wrenching 1988 film Veedu delivered. But 3BHK ends up as a romantic advertisement of such dreams. All the struggles get romanticised when Vasudevan proclaims that they’ve “won the whole city.” Looking back at all he has lost in life, the statement begs a question: ‘At what cost?’”
