Genesee County Sheriff elder abuse conference to be held in October

FLINT, MI – The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office will soon host the 4th annual Educate, Defend, Guard the Elderly Conference in Grand Blanc next month.
The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc.
The event is geared toward professionals working with or caring for older adults. It will be held in partnership with the Elder Abuse Alliance.
Registration is required for the first day of the conference on Oct. 2. Professionals who participate in the conference will be able to get continuing education unit credits and learn how to identify and protect seniors from elder abuse.
The second day will be open to the public. No registration will be required on Friday, Oct. 3.
Community members are encouraged to stop in and learn about senior abuse, common scams, exploitation tactics and more.

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson will make a keynote speech.
