After the Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 31-21, they are one of the handful of NFL teams that remain undefeated heading into Week 4.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers against Miami. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir’s fourth-quarter score marked Allen’s 200th career passing touchdown. After the game, Allen gave the credit to Shakir.
“It’s awesome,” Allen told reporters. “Khalil does everything the right way, constantly following the balls, constantly being in the right spots. He makes some unbelievable plays for us.”
Next up, Allen and Co., take on the New Orleans Saints, a team sitting in last place in the NFC South with a 0-3 record. The Bills are considered 16.5-point favorites to defeat the Saints at Highmark Stadium.
While the 29-year-old quarterback continues to prove why he’s the league’s reigning MVP, he’s also doing incredible work off the field. Before the Saints-Bills matchup on Sunday, Sept. 28, Allen shared some exciting personal news with fans.
The Bills QB Is Launching The Josh Allen Scholarship For High School Students In His Hometown
Through his partnership with Wonderful Pistachios, the Bills star is launching the Josh Allen scholarship in Firebaugh, California.
Allen said in a statement shared with Heavy Sports, “This program is about more than a scholarship fund, it’s a way to open new doors for the next generation of leaders. I’m proud to partner with Wonderful in bringing this opportunity to my hometown of Firebaugh.”
The program supports first-generation youth pursuing higher education in Firebaugh, where the quarterback grew up. Students can receive up to $12,000 for college over four years. “It is part of an expansion of the Wonderful Community Scholarship program, made possible by The Wonderful Company co-owners Lynda and Stewart Resnick and their foundation,” the press release stated.
“Eligible 12th grade students at Firebaugh High School were contacted in August by their school administration. Nearly 40 eligible seniors were accepted into the scholarship program this year.”
Andy Anzaldo, chief operating officer of corporate social responsibility at The Wonderful Company, is thrilled to bring new opportunities to families in California’s Central Valley. “With this new scholarship, we are investing in a community that many of our employees call home, just like Josh Allen,” Anzaldo said.
Bills QB Josh Allen Made NFL History Against the Dolphins
While Allen cements his legacy in Firebaugh, his No. 15 jersey is the only number retired at Firebaugh High School, he’s also padding his future Hall of Fame resume.
Allen is now 8-0 on Thursday Night Football, tying Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning for the second-most consecutive Thursday wins in NFL history. Only Russell Wilson and Tom Brady have longer streaks with nine consecutive Thursday night wins.
Against the Dolphins, Allen has 45 touchdowns in 15 games — the most scores against a single opponent in that span in NFL history.
