    Mahindra XUV700 new price drops by Rs 1.43 lakhs after GST overhaul

    Mahindra has announced a significant reduction in prices for the XUV700, passing on the benefits of the revised GST slab to customers ahead of its implementation on September 22. With the tax rate on large SUVs dropping from 48% to 40%, buyers can now save between Rs 88,900 and Rs 1.43 lakh depending on the variant.The XUV700 falls under the SUV category that attracts GST based on two key parameters — length of over 4 metres and engine capacity above 1,500 cc.Until now, such vehicles were taxed at 28% GST plus 20% cess, taking the effective rate to 48%. Under the new rule, vehicles above 4 metres in length with engines larger than 1,500 cc will be taxed at 40%, compared with the earlier maximum of 50% (28% GST plus up to 22% cess).For Mahindra, the revision translates directly into tangible savings for its customers, making the XUV700 more attractive in a competitive segment.Apart from the XUV700, Mahindra has announced price cuts across several other models. The Bolero and Bolero Neo see a reduction of up to Rs 1.27 lakh, while the XUV3XO line has become more affordable by Rs 1.4 lakh for the petrol variants and Rs 1.56 lakh for the diesel trims. The Thar range also benefits, with the 2WD diesel priced lower by Rs 1.35 lakh and the 4WD diesel cheaper by Rs 1.01 lakh, while the Thar Roxx price has been slashed by by Rs 1.33 lakhThe Scorpio Classic receives the same reduction of Rs 1.01 lakh.
