River of Time historical event returns to Saginaw County this weekend

BUENA VISTA TWP, MI – A more than-three-decade tradition of bringing history to life will continue this weekend as the River of Time event returns to Saginaw County for its 2025 installment.
The annual historical reenactment festival will take place Friday, Sept. 26, through Sunday, Sept. 28, at Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm at 4715 N. Portsmouth Road in rural Buena Vista Township. For more than 30 years, the event has drawn hundreds of participants and spectators to witness recreations of historical battles and activities dating back to the 1600s.
This marks the third consecutive year the event will be held at Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm after previously taking place at Bay City’s Veterans Memorial Park. The change in venue has not affected the event’s accessibility, as admission and parking remain free for all attendees.
The weekend schedule features educational programs designed for visiting schools, hands-on skill demonstrations, and Civil War skirmishes. Daily activities run from 9 a.m. when Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm opens until the farm’s 7 p.m. closing time.
Organizers direct interested attendees to the River of Time Facebook page for a complete schedule of weekend events.
The festival continues to serve as both entertainment and education, offering visitors a chance to experience living history through authentic reenactments spanning centuries of American heritage.
