West Bengal: WBCHSE Class 12th Semester Exam Results To Be Out By Oct 31

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is confident that the results of the first semester-based Class 12 board exams will be declared by October 31, Council President Chiranjib Bhattacharya said.
The semester 1 examinations for Class 12 students began on September 8 and ended on Monday. Bhattacharya also informed that the second-semester exams are scheduled for February 2025, and the final results will be based on the combined performance across both semesters, which will decide the grades and ranking of candidates.
This year marks the first semester-based system for Class 12 students in West Bengal. An estimated 6.6 lakh candidates appeared for the exams, with 56.03 per cent of them girls. The exams were conducted in a new format using OMR sheets.
“Over 38 lakh OMR sheets are being scanned. Since festival holidays will take place over the next month, the evaluation process may face some delays. But we are confident of publishing the results by October 31,” Bhattacharya said.
In the new format, semesters one and three include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed to encourage reasoning and critical thinking, while semesters two and four consist of short answer questions (SAQs) and development quotient (DQ) to help students retain their writing skills.
Earlier this year, the board conducted the final annual exam under the old system, which had been in place since 1978. The new semester-based evaluation has now replaced the annual pattern.
