Delhi Traffic to Face Major Congestion Until October 3 - Check Routes To Avoid

Delhi Traffic Alert: Delhi is bracing for significant traffic congestion over the coming days as Dussehra celebrations at the historic Red Fort draw large crowds. The Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued an advisory warning commuters that traffic on Netaji Subhash Marg and nearby stretches is likely to remain heavy until 3 October. The city’s annual Ramlila events — including the Luv Kush Ramlila, Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila, and Shri Dharmik Ramlila — are expected to attract thousands of visitors and VIP movements each evening. To manage the influx and ensure pedestrian safety, special traffic arrangements will be in place daily from 5 pm to midnight, as per a TOI report. “As large crowds gather for the celebrations, we have implemented diversions to ensure smooth vehicular flow and public convenience,” said a Traffic Police spokesperson. According to the advisory, all commercial vehicles, including DTC buses, will be diverted away from Delhi Gate Chowk, Daryaganj, and Chatta Rail Chowk. Vehicular movement will be regulated between Delhi Gate and Chatta Rail Chowk, with additional diversions possible at Chatta Rail Chowk, T-Point Subhash Marg, Delhi Gate, Shanti Van Chowk, GPO Chowk, and Lothian Road. For visitors, designated parking spaces include Madhav Das Park, Tikona Park parking no. 3, Sunehri Masjid parking (T-5), Parade Ground, Dangal Maidan, Omaxe Mall, and Church Mission Road. Reserved parking will be available at Lahori Gate, Ticket Ghar, Park Street, and other designated areas along Netaji Subhash Marg. Commuters have been advised to avoid the congestion altogether by using the Delhi Metro. “We urge people to cooperate with traffic personnel and Ramlila volunteers during this time,” the Traffic Police said, adding that real-time updates and assistance would be available on their website, social media handles, and WhatsApp helpline (8750871493). For Delhiites, the coming week promises festive cheer but also a test of patience on the roads — making early planning and alternate travel arrangements essential.
