The Volkswagen Group Commercial Vehicles division provided a glimpse into its future mobility strategy and growing inclination towards autonomous driving at the IAA Mobility 2025 media workshop in early September. At the event attended by 200 international journalists, Volkswagen also introduced a custom-built ID. Buzz.
The brand requested Rohan Marley, son of Jamaican music legend Bob Marley, to unveil the attractive, high-end vehicle following a surprise entrance on stage. It was the first time the ID. Volkswagen and the Marley Family
Designed based on the T2 Microbus, the ID. Buzz Custom has a great visual appearance and attractive road presence. The futuristic electric autonomous bus sports the Marley family’s traditional colour, Marley Yellow, a lion emblem and Rohan’s personal signature. At the event, Rohan said the bus model carries forward the family legacy.

The ID. Buzz originates from the traditional Microbus, which was introduced in 1949. The Microbus quickly established itself as one of the most popular vehicles in the West due to its unique design and practical usage. A multi-purpose and durable bus, it became particularly famous among youngsters between the 1950s and the 1970s globally.
Bob Marley was a huge Microbus enthusiast and drove a second-generation T2 Microbus model, which Volkswagen produced from 1967 to 1979.
Volkswagen’s Custom ID. Buzz
Equipped with autonomous driving technology, Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz is expected to help the company expand its wings in the global automobile scene. According to AutoPost, Volkswagen had been testing autonomous vehicles in the United States and Germany for the last four years before it decided to launch the ID. Buzz. The company introduced a production version of the vehicle at a recent conference in Hamburg.
During the IAA Mobility 2025, MOIA, Volkswagen Group’s mobility subsidiary, unveiled its autonomous driving strategy. The company presented multiple auto solutions, including a safe autonomous driving AMaaS platform, multiple operator support services and the ID. BUZZ AV. The ID. BUZZ AV is now Volkswagen Group’s first commercially available autonomous vehicle developed by the company to European standards. These solutions boasted of 360-degree perception, passenger-centric interiors and fastest decision-making.
Christian Senger, Director of Autonomous Driving for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, is hoping the market for autonomous mobility in places like the US and Europe will reach $350 billion (Rs 31 lakh crore) to $400 billion (Rs 35 lakh crore) by 2035.
