Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and other ministers will tour flood-hit areas of the Marathwada region on Wednesday (September 24, 2025) to take stock of the losses, officials said.

Meanwhile, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar also directed the administration to ensure immediate assistance to farmers who have suffered crop losses in the recent heavy rains in the State.

Rains have wreaked havoc over the last few days in the region, killing eight persons and damaging houses and crops.

Heavy rains have been witnessed in Latur, Dharashiv, Beed and Parbhani districts. Waterlogging occurred overnight in the Pathri area of Parbhani, an official said.

With dams in the Marathwada region swollen due to the unprecedented rains, water was being continuously discharged from them, he said. Crops on over 33,010 hectares were damaged in Dharashiv of the Marathwada region, which consists of eight districts.

As per official schedule, CM Fadnavis will visit various places in Latur later in the day. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar will visit Dharashiv and Beed districts, while Eknath Shinde, Health Minister Prakash Abitkar, and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik will also tour various areas of Dharashiv, the official said.

Environment Minister Pankaja Munde and Agriculture Minister Dattaray Bharne will visit various parts of Jalna district. They will meet farmers and review their crop losses, he added.

Ajit Pawar urges farmers ‘not to lose heart’

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who toured Karmala taluka of Solapur district, interacted with farmers and local authorities. He urged farmers “not to lose heart” and assured all assistance to them.

“Due to continuous heavy rainfall, there has been significant damage to crops. I went to the fields to inspect the crops. I interacted with the farmers to understand their problems and gathered information about the damage that has occurred,” he said in a post on X.

The deputy CM said he has given clear instructions that the administration should do meticulous planning and promptly implement the necessary measures to ensure immediate assistance reaches farmers in the flood-affected areas. “Our government stands firmly behind our farmers,” he said.

Mr. Pawar said he has instructed the administrative officers concerned to conduct immediate panchnamas and provide swift assistance. He asked the administration to carry out relief work urgently and take immediate action for compensation.

State Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant, however, targeted the Government, saying it has announced ₹2,215 crore in assistance to 31.64 lakh farmers affected by heavy rainfall.

“This amounts to ₹7,000 per farmer. Considering the massive losses suffered by the farmers, this amount is extremely paltry. The Congress party has demanded ₹50,000 per hectare in assistance. Why does the government’s hand, which is open for its business friends, falter when it comes to the public?” he asked.
