Author and apprentice winemaker Nicholas O’Connell will discuss his book and experience diving into the wine industry at an upcoming book talk at Readers’ Books.
O’Connell is coming to Sonoma’s local bookstore on Oct. 8 to share from his novel, “Crush: My Year as an Apprentice Winemaker.” The reading will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a Q&A and book signing.
O’Connell’s book details the daily operations of prominent West Coast wineries, according to a news release from Readers’ Books. The novel offers a blend of his personal experiences as an apprentice with an approachable look at the wine business. Through his writing, O’Connell explores the process of winemaking from the ground up, which provides a learning experience for wine enthusiasts.
Based in Washington state, O’Connell is the founder of the Writer’s Workshop and contributes to publications including Newsweek, Food & Wine, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and National Geographic Adventure. He has authored five books, among them “The Storms of Denali: A Novel” and “On Sacred Ground: The Spirit of Place in Pacific Northwest Literature.”
