Mask Shards in Hollow Knight: Silksong act like heart pieces in Zelda games in that finding four will add to your life counter.
To find these shards, you will have to travel all over, looking in dangerous areas and overcoming challenging obstacles.
If you are looking for a little more health, here is where you can find mask shards in the first act of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Mask Shard Locations in Act 1 of Hollow Knight: Silksong
There are five mask shards you can get in the first act of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The first one can be bought from the store vendor in Bone Bottom, the first town of the game, for 300 rosaries. However, if you want to hold onto your precious beads, the other four can be found below.
To get the Deep Docks mask shard, you need to enter the area from a specific spot. When in The Marrow, work your way toward the Deep Docks entrance, but you need to enter from the doorway above the main entrance. There are elevated platforms to use swift step to access.
When inside, there is an ambush arena that you have to defeat. When done, move to the right and claim your mask.
The Far Fields mask shard in Hollow Knight: Silksong can be found above the Seamstress’s house (the lady who gives you the gliding cloak).
From her house, climb up the right side and break the explosive rocks floating above the house to access a tunnel on the other side.
In that tunnel is a bunch of red thorns. You need to work your way around, breaking the explosive rocks and using the jetstreams to float over the spikes. When you drop the explosive rock from the ceiling, the mask shard will be revealed.
The Shellwood mask can be accessed quickly near the bellway station in this region. You unlock this bellway when going to Blasted Steps for the first time.
Go to the right to enter a vertical room and then enter the room just below the top entrance on the right. This room is filled with spikes and flowers to pogo off of. Make it to the end to find the mask shard. When you go back left, the room will have flying enemies.
The Wormways are some dangerous tunnels with a lot of worms falling through them. Luckily, we’ll be avoiding them here.
If you have already come to Bone Bottom from the Shellwood entrance, you can lower an elevator down to the town. Take this elevator up and enter the lower entrance on the left side of the very tall vertical area.
In this area, you will need to use swift step to run all the way across this area while a gopher-looking monster tries to spit acid at you. Reach the doorway, drop down into the water below, and break the wall to find the final mask shard in Act 1 of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
