On September 22, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received US President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gore at his residence in New York, where he is attending the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, the presidential press service reported.
At the beginning of the meeting, Gore conveyed warm greetings from US President Donald Trump.
The parties discussed ways to further strengthen the Uzbek-US strategic partnership, focusing on the implementation of agreements reached during the September 5 phone conversation between the two leaders. They expressed satisfaction with the intensive political dialogue, regular exchange of delegations, and the growing pace of business cooperation.
The importance of leveraging the resources of the US Exim Bank and the DFC Fund to support and promote new projects was highlighted, along with the proposal to establish a joint coordinating committee to accelerate their implementation.
Special attention was given to cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and combating illegal migration. The sides also reviewed plans for future activities.
For reference, Sergio Gore was born on November 30, 1986, in Tashkent and later pursued his education in the United States. He has built his career within the Republican Party, serving in various positions on Donald Trump’s team and becoming one of his close associates. Gore headed the Presidential Personnel Office in the White House and actively took part in political campaigns. On August 22, 2025, Trump nominated him as ambassador to India. He currently serves as Special Representative for South and Central Asia.
It is worth noting that President Mirziyoyev is in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly session and is scheduled to deliver his speech today, September 23.
