JMG Limited has called for stronger collaboration between the private sector and government to ensure Lagos residents commit to achieving a garbage-free environment in the near future.
In celebration of World Clean-Up Day 2025, the top management of the organisation launched a campaign to introduce international best practices and new technologies aimed at strengthening participation in sanitation, improving service delivery, and harnessing private sector involvement. The event, themed “Textile and Fashion Waste”, was held in the Gbagada area of Lagos.
Speaking during the event, the Group General Manager JMG Limited, Rabi Jammal, noted that Lagos, like the rest of the world, is facing the crisis of municipal waste, which currently amounts to over 2.0 billion metric tonnes annually and is projected to surge by 73 percent to 3.88 billion metric tons by 2050.
“Without action, the volume of improperly managed waste will continue to increase, harming human health, the environment, and economies in multiple ways,” Jammal warned.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability, expressing delight in actively participating in the clean-up exercise to raise awareness about the importance of a cleaner environment.
“JMG champions environmental preservation and has taken the responsibility of clearing waste in its community as one of its core values, built around safeguarding the environment, as enshrined in the ethics of World Clean-Up Day,” he added.

Jammal also highlighted that sustainability is embedded in the company’s ISO certification and reflected in the adoption of clean energy solutions. He cited the installation of solar power at the company’s headquarters as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions, which are hazardous to both humans and the environment.
JMG Limited’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager, Benedict Odamah, stressed the importance of the initiative, noting its positive impact on staff and the wider community.
“This scheme encourages our personnel to take an active role in cleaning the environment, eliminating waste, and promoting awareness about proper disposal and recycling. It is also about enlightening the host community on sustainability and positioning JMG at the forefront of ecological conservation ,” Odamah said. “
He further explained that JMG’s clean energy practices include the installation of solar power at its offices and business locations to reduce carbon footprints, as well as operating a sourcing hub where waste is immediately segregated for recycling.
The company’s Marketing Executive, Goke Atiba, emphasised JMG’s commitment to community support, saying: “We are very proud to give back to our community. For instance, we have donated solar panels and inverters to power Primary Healthcare Centres across Lagos State.”
Residents also expressed appreciation for the initiative. Kayode Adebayo, a member of the Gbagada community, remarked, “Seeing JMG roll up its sleeves to clean the environment where they do business shows they genuinely care about our environment and our wellbeing. It gives us hope that together we can make a real difference.”
JMG, which specialises in power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems, and air compressors, has also established itself as a provider of clean energy solutions. Since 2018, it has offered solar and cost-effective hybrid options, beginning with Lithion inverters and batteries, followed by Livfast inverters and batteries in 2022.
In 2024, the company expanded its renewable offerings with LONGi solar panels, Deye lithium batteries, and Must solar inverters, broadening access to alternative power solutions for customers.
