Accra is set to come alive with colour, innovation, and greenery as the 13th edition of the Ghana Garden and Flower Show (GGFS) opens on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.
The nine-day event, which runs until September 28, will be officially launched by Registrar-General, Ms Grace Ama Issahaque, who will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony. Dr Christine Amoah-Nuamah, Chairperson of the Environmental Protection Agency, will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while H.E. Mohammed Nasheed, Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) and the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Secretariat, will deliver the main keynote speech.
Organised by Strategic Communications Africa Ltd (Stratcomm Africa), the show is being held under the theme “Urban Places, Green Spaces.” Since its inception thirteen years ago, the GGFS has grown from just 14 exhibitors and 1,400 visitors to more than 100 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors annually.
The event has become one of Ghana’s leading platforms for promoting sustainable living and raising awareness of the environmental, health, and commercial benefits of floriculture, horticulture, gardening, and agriculture.
Highlights of this year’s edition include the Green to Riches Conference focused on green entrepreneurship and youth opportunities, masterclasses and demonstrations, children’s activities under the Little Green Fingers programme, and evening entertainment events such as music, drama, and a fashion show.
Ms Esther A. N. Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa and Convener of the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, described the show as more than an exhibition. “The Ghana Garden and Flower Show has grown into more than an event – it is a movement that inspires action and change. This year, we are ready to showcase how greening our urban spaces can directly improve lives, build resilience against climate change, and create economic opportunities,” she said.
She added that the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park would be transformed into “a living demonstration of what greener, healthier, wealthier, and thriving Ghanaian urban spaces can be.”
The show is expected to draw garden enthusiasts, sustainability advocates, families, schools, corporate organisations, and the general public, all eager to explore how green innovations can drive wellness, climate resilience, and economic growth.
