The City Civil and Sessions Court has directed the Bengaluru prison officials to provide basic comfort to actor Darshan following his complaint about deteriorating health and request for poison, as he claimed he could not live in such miserable conditions anymore. The City Civil and Sessions Court asked Bengaluru prison officials to provide comforts that are allowed as per the Prisons Manual.
While the court has directed certain comforts for Darshan, it has rejected the plea to transfer him from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara jail to Ballari jail, noting that there was no compelling reason to do so. The court further ordered that Darshan be permitted to walk daily in the corridor outside his cell and instructed prison authorities to provide him with a bed and pillow.
Darshan Asked the Court to Poison Him
Appearing via video conference before the 64th City Civil and Sessions Court, he described his deteriorating health and appealed in desperation.
“I have not seen sunlight for many days, my hands have developed fungus, and my clothes smell. I can’t live like this anymore. Please, just give me poison. Life here has become unbearable,” Darshan said during the monthly hearing.
The actor added, “Please give poison at least to me. I don’t want to continue like this.”
Responding to his remarks, the judge said, “Such things cannot be done. That is not possible.”
Who is Darshan?

About the murder case
Darshan has been named the second accused in the 3,991-page chargesheet submitted by the police in the Renukaswamy murder case. Renukaswamy was lured to a shed in Pattanagere under false pretences and brutally beaten—reportedly with sticks, a belt, and possibly even electric shocks—before being dumped near a drain where his body was found. It was confirmed in the post-mortem report that he died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple blunt injuries.
The evidence submitted by the police includes CCTV footage, call records, forensic reports, witness statements, and details about payments made tothe co-accused to conceal Darshan’s involvement.
