Rebecca Adlington has shared the delightful news that she is expecting a child. The I’m A Celebrity star and Olympic swimmer made the announcement just days after opening up about the heartbreak of losing her baby girl. Adlington has been candid about the devastating miscarriages she experienced. She found out about her first during a routine 12-week scan in 2022, and then in 2023, she was five months into her pregnancy when a scan revealed there was no heartbeat. Taking to social media, she explained: “We want to share that we are expecting a child. It has been an emotional and physical rollercoaster navigating these past 19 months of trying, but this pregnancy has been a small miracle. “We questioned whether we wanted to share this news but we want to continue to be open and honest about our journey and be mindful of the struggles that others have had and continue to have.” She continued: “We are taking each day as it comes and are incredibly grateful for the care we are receiving from the NHS (Rainbow Team) and are feeling overwhelmingly supported by them.”, reports the Mirror . “While we are cautiously overjoyed, we carry awareness of the quiet struggles many face, and we send love to those hearts too. We know so many people are still waiting for this kind of news.” When discussing the birth of Harper, who was tragically stillborn five months into the pregnancy, she shared: “Normally, you go through the birth and you get this wonderful, incredible child. “So to not have that and to be giving birth to your baby and you’re not going to see them open their eyes, you’re not going to hear them cry, you’re not going to do these things, it’s really hard. “They explained what she was going to look like, because their colouring is a little bit different, and what to expect. They really do prepare you, and that does put your mind at ease. “They put a little hat on her, gave her a little blanket, and then came through. “And then I did want to see her. My gut told me in that moment, I was like, ‘I absolutely do want to see her’. “And it’s, honestly, I say all the time now, I’m like, I’m so glad I did. I’m really, really glad I did. “Just to be able to actually see how she was developed and see her little nose and her little hands. “And even though it was really difficult, I think I would have regretted that decision if I hadn’t seen her.” While acclaimed for her career achievements, Rebecca has also faced health setbacks. Back in March, the BBC Sports pundit and gold-medal-winning swimmer Rebecca shared the news of her coeliac disease diagnosis on Coeliac UK’s Instagram account. The athlete, 36, spoke candidly about learning of her condition and urged her fans to support a gluten-free prescription petition.
