Giants QB Russell Wilson Makes Feelings Known on Being Benched

The New York Giants are 0-3 heading out of their weekend loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and their schedule isn’t getting any easier. The team will take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 28, at home, and when they do, they’ll have a different quarterback starting, according to reports.
Ahead of the 2025-26 season, the New York Giants signed veteran Russell Wilson, veteran Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart and brought on plenty of new talent. Wilson is a championship-winning quarterback, and he’s been starting in all of the Giants’ regular season games. But, that’s about to change, since the team is painfully looking for their first win of the season.
Dart, who was the team’s 25th-overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, will be starting in the Giants’ upcoming game against the Chargers at MetLife Stadium, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reported the news on Tuesday, September 23. He also stated that Wilson will serve as QB2. Now, Wilson has responded to the news, and he’s doing it with class.
Russell Wilson Reacts to Getting Benched in a Classy Way
Wilson apparently got the news before it broke to the world, which is good. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday that head coach head coach Brian Daboll “has informed both QBs of the change.”
In what seems to be a response, Wilson took to social media on Tuesday and shared a Bible verse. He’s made it clear over the years that he’s a man of faith and God, so it makes sense that he would share something of faith after getting the bad news.
On his Instagram stories, Wilson shared the Bible verse Ephesians 3 NIV, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” He also had a Bethel Music and John Wild religious song playing with the story.
So, he didn’t say anything negative. He just posted a Bible verse and song, so it was really a classy response. Maybe he’ll take Dart under his wings and teach him some of his valuable life lessons on, and off, the field.
New York Giants’ Jaxson Dart Praised in the Preseason
Dart had a fantastic preseason with the Giants, and that includes being impressive in practices, during preseason games and simply being a good representation of the franchise. Before the season even started, he caught the eye ofChris Trapasso of CBS Sports, who named Dart as the top quarterback in the rookie class for the 2025-26 season.
“Dart was sensational in all three exhibition contests operating Brian Daboll’s offense,” he stated in a September piece. “The third quarterback picked in the 2025 draft completed 68% of his 47 attempts with three touchdowns and no interceptions while averaging a hefty 7.9 yards per attempt. Beyond the numbers, the blend of quarterbacking style Dart demonstrated was so impressive.”
He continued, “He diced from inside the confines of the pocket. He scrambled a bit. He got the ball out quickly, and made a few high-caliber throws downfield.”
