Sir Rod Stewart has been playfully bracing himself for the release of wife Penny Lancaster ’s upcoming memoir, which he jokingly described as “blood curdling.” The rocker, 80, shared a lighthearted video on Instagram showing him thumbing through Penny’s book while the pair lounged together on a brightly coloured sofa. As Penny, 53, laughed beside him, Rod put on horrified performance, gasping: “Wow this is incredible Penny. Absolutely blood curdling information in here.” Pretending to cringe at her revelations, he teased: “You shouldn’t have put that in the book, Penny.” The father of eight then amped up the act, tossing the hardback into the air and exclaiming: “Oh my God I can’t read it,” which only set his wife off into more hysterics. The comedy dwindled into sincerity as Rod then gushed about his pride of Penny. The rocker added: “No, it’s just the best, I’m so proud of her. Penny then leaned into kiss her husband of 18 years in a sweet moment during the clip. Penny’s memoir, titled Someone Like Me, arrives on shelves on September 25 and sees the 54-year-old TV personality retrace her journey from being a bullied schoolgirl battling undiagnosed dyslexia to navigating fame, marriage, and motherhood. In her memoir, she also details her early relationship with rock star Rod, recalling how she had to prove to his six children that she was not a “gold digger” when they first began dating. Penny was only 27 at the time while Rod 53-years-old and had already been married and divorced twice. In her brand-new memoir, Penny has also admitted that even after nearly two decades together, she and Rod still clash every single day. However, she admitted that their arguments are usually over everyday family matters rather than celebrity drama. “Rod and I argue about the usual stuff. Normally, it’s over parenting,” she explained. “He says, ‘You spoil them too much with “Let me bring your breakfast up to your bed for you.”‘ Then I might go, ‘You’re spoiling them when you say, “I’ll give you £20 if you can hit the crossbar with that ball.” Penny’s book release coincides with a difficult period for her husband Rod after a challenging couple of months in his personal life. The Maggie May legend was recently forced to scrap part of his U.S. tour after falling ill with the flu. Health concerns have plagued the iconic singer in recent weeks, and he was even placed on vocal rest between shows earlier this year. Despite setbacks, Rod is still determined to continue to make music. He has already confirmed that 2025 will mark the end of his globe-spanning tours, signalling a new era for the singer as his wife steps into the spotlight with her candid life story.
