Universal’s “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” led the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second weekend, taking £2.2 million ($3 million) to lift its total to £10.1 million ($13.7 million), according to Comscore.
Warner Bros.’ “The Conjuring: Last Rites” was No. 2 with $2 million, pushing the horror franchise title to $20.2 million after three weeks. Sony Pictures’ “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle” held well at No. 3, adding $1.2 million for a cumulative $7.4 million.
Lionsgate U.K.’s “The Long Walk” stayed in the mix at No. 4 with $1.1 million, taking its total to $3.5 million, while Disney’s “The Roses” rounded out the top five with $815,000 for a running total of $11.5 million.
Sony’s new release “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” opened at No. 6 with $722,000. Universal’s animated holdover “The Bad Guys 2” placed No. 7 with $314,000, lifting its tally to $17.9 million. Event cinema kept momentum as National Theatre’s “Inter Alia – NT Live 2025” grossed $292,000 at No. 8, for a total of $1.9 million.
Trafalgar Releasing’s “The Sound of Music” 60th anniversary edition sang its way to No. 9 with $241,000, while Magnetes Pictures “Tesciowie 3” completed the top 10 with $197,000.
Warner Bros. unleashes “One Battle After Another” on Friday, a large-scale release across more than 300 locations. Lionsgate UK launches Renny Harlin’s slasher horror sequel “The Strangers: Chapter 2.”
Among the arthouse and indie entries, Verve Pictures unveils the relationship drama “A Night Like This,” Vertigo Releasing puts out Emma Thompson thriller “The Dead of Winter.” Nadia Fall’s Sundance-debuting “Brides,” presented by Vue Lumière, opens at more than 100 sites. Documentary offerings include Justin Kurzel’s “Ellis Park” from Conic, Dogwoof’s “The Librarians,” Bruise Films’ “Paris 75” and Kaleidoscope Entertainment’s “Irvine Welsh: Reality Is Not Enough.”
Asian titles bring further variety. “Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback,” from Trinity Filmed Entertainment, expands the anime franchise, Dreamz Entertainment’s “OG” is toplined by Telugu cinema star Pawan Kalyan, “Homebound” from Moviegoers Entertainment is India’s Oscar entry, while Trafalgar Releasing is keeping the focus on event cinema with remastered BTS concerts “The Wings Tour: The Final” and “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life On Stage: Epilogue,” each playing wide across 100-plus venues midweek.
