Adapted from the “London Rules” entry in Mick Herron’s series of spy novels, season 5 begins with the dysfunctional agents placed under house arrest, with resident hacktivist Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung) implicated in a wave of criminal activity. Operating under the scrutinizing gaze of Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas), Lamb and his underlings team up for more compellingly-plotted spy drama, including once-promising agent River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) and recovering alcoholic Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves). Meanwhile, Emmy-nominee Nick Mohammed (“Ted Lasso”) joins the cast as the London mayor seeking re-election, and we’re excited at the possibility of the cuddly comedian playing a morally bankrupt politician.
