Netflix fans 'riveted' by Miranda Cosgrove rom-com as it soars up Netflix charts just days after release - leaving them 'belly laughing'

Netflix fans have been left ‘belly laughing and crying’ by a new Netflix rom-com that has soared to the top of their coveted Top 10 charts.

After launching on the streaming platform last Friday, The Wrong Paris, which stars Miranda Cosgrove, took the top spot among the most-watched films.

It even outperformed recent popular releases including the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club, and KPop Demon Hunters.

The film follows Miranda, 32, best known for her role in children’s programme iCarly, as leading lady Dawn, who enters a dating show in desperation to make quick money.

Thinking she would be jetting off to the city of love, Paris, France, her character Dawn is shocked to find out she’s been tricked into being sent to Paris, Texas, an hour away from her home town.

Determined to find a way out, she’s soon stopped in her tracks by a single, wealthy cowboy, Pierson Fode’s Trey McAllen, and the two embark on a twisted love story.

Fans wasted no time in getting through the film over the weekend, with The Wrong Paris racking up hundreds of five-star reviews from viewers.

One wrote: ‘The Wrong Paris is the best rom-com I have seen in a very long time. I sat riveted for the 1hr and 47min movie, which I hardly ever do.

‘The characters, Dawn and Trey have such chemistry and the cinematography was on point.

‘I loved the movie so much, that I watched it again today! It is going to be my new go to rom-com on Netflix.’

A second added: ‘I usually don’t watch the latest rom coms that are out today, so many of them come across as incredibly cheesy, predictable and provide no true humour.

‘The Wrong Paris took me away for a couple of hours after a long work week. I laughed throughout the entire movie.

‘I was left with an overall great feeling about life and that I had been thoroughly entertained. I miss these types of movies.’

A third agreed: ‘As someone who loves a rom-com and also loves reality TV this was like my dream movie!

‘It had me hooked the whole time and it even had me belly laughing at one point and I was even crying at some point as well so it allowed me to feel all my feelings and it was overall an amazing movie.’

It’s not the only new release that has taken Netflix viewers by storm this week.

Earlier this month, a revenge thriller with ‘heartbreaking performances’ has rocketed up the charts as viewers ‘binge-watch every episode’.

Two Graves, created by Agustín Martínez, landed on the popular streaming service on August 29.

The Spanish thriller follows the story of a woman called Isabel who goes looking for her missing 16-year-old granddaughter and her friend.

It stars Kiti Mánver as grandmother Isabel, Nadia Vilaplana as young girl Verónica, Zoé Arnao as the other missing girl Marta, Álvaro Morte as Rafael Salazar and Hovik Keuchkerian as Antonio.

And after just four days on the site, it managed to find itself among the greats in Netflix’s global charts for the most-watched programme.

The show, which is called Dos Tumbas in Spanish, placed at number six.

The Wrong Paris is available to stream on Netflix.
