Looks like Sam Altman’s OpenAI has got a new partner as NVIDIA has agreed to invest a whopping $100 billion in the former’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. This deal will let OpenAI boost its computing power by establishing new data centres consisting of highly-advanced NVIDIA chips. A report published by Bloomberg suggested that the two firms have already signed the letter of intent to take the plan forward. Individuals involved in the discussions have told that the investment will be released in multiple stages, beginning with $10 billion, with which OpenAI is set to deploy its first gigawatt of computing power to use. Apart from that, it has also been revealed that NVIDIA will get equity in OpenAI for the deal. With this project, the aim is to develop data centres with a combined capacity of 10 gigawatts. These centres will be used for training and running OpenAI’s large AI models. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s Take On The Matter Sam Altman is all praises for the partnership and he said, “Everything starts with compute. Compute infrastructure will be the basis for the economy of the future, and we will utilise what we’re building with Nvidia to both create new AI breakthroughs and empower people and businesses with them at scale.” Why This Partnership Is Important For Both OpenAI And NVIDIA?
