A final year student of B.A. LLB, Sahastranshu Pandey, of NALSAR University, died reportedly after he suddenly developed health complications at the academy’s campus on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
Following the death of the student, the academy authorities decided to suspend all classes from Monday (September 22, 2025) to October 1. Classes are likely to be resumed from October 6. The academy officials, sources said, planned to constitute an ‘independent inquiry’ with external members into the ‘sequence of events that led to his tragic death’.
It is learnt that the student developed health issues while attending a get-together convened on the NALSAR campus, coinciding with a festival late on Saturday night. Initially, he was rushed to a private hospital on Alwal main road. As his condition was deteriorating, the student was taken to another private hospital at Suchitra junction.
From there, the student’s body was shifted to Raipur after speaking with his parents. When contacted, the Shamirpet police said ‘one of the teaching staff members’ informed them over the phone about the death of the student. Since the student’s family did not raise any suspicion over the death, the body was shifted to Raipur, the police quoted them as saying.
Interestingly, there was no official communication from the hospital or the NALSAR authorities to the police about the sudden death of the young student. No post-mortem examination was also conducted to ascertain the causes behind the youngster’s death.
