Investing in real estate companies might have become a norm now. However, the seemingly lucrative venture has its fair share of risks. Besides economic slowdowns, market cycles, and interest rates, there is also the possibility of projects getting delayed or shelved, leading to difficulty in getting refunds. Recently, a New Delhi-based entrepreneur opened up about facing a similar distressing situation after investing Rs 10 lakh into a commercial project in Noida. It was through a social media post that she was able to recover the money.
The entrepreneur shared an update on the matter by detailing the entire story on X. The woman revealed that she and her father invested Rs 10 lakh in the Noida project, but unfortunately, it was shelved. Although the woman did not give any reasons for the cancellation, she disclosed that the realty assistant was of little help when she and her approached them. Even after tagging the firm’s director and the authorities concerned, the father-daughter duo did not get any response.
Entrepreneur Shares Struggle Of Getting A Refund
Sharing her ordeal, the entrepreneur added, “When we asked for our refund, their realty assistant kept us hanging for week after week. He made us do stupid formalities and then stopped answering calls after 4 months of constant chasing. My father even went to their office no. of times, but each visit ended with ‘just give us 15 days more. It was very frustrating and stressful.”
The woman admitted to feeling “stuck” when messaging the company’s senior people on LinkedIn proved futile.

Here’s how she got back the refund: “That’s when I decided to use Twitter (now X). I DM’d the director of the company, who has a decent presence here. The next day, I got a call from his team. They promised the refund in 10 days. On the 10th day, I got the money in my bank. Not just that, they delivered the cheque at my place in 4 days.”

The internet lauded the woman’s persistence. “You should tag that director here so other people can stop becoming victims of scams like this,” advised a user. “What a stressful situation! It’s inspiring how you persisted and found a solution,” praised another. “X is turning out to be useful & not a waste of time,” read a remark.
