He acknowledges feeling “pretty good” currently as he disclosed maintaining a strict exercise routine, reports the Mirror . This represents a dramatic departure from his previous existence, which featured two highly publicised and acrimonious divorces plus considerable media scrutiny. Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, he stated: “Most of my 50s were spent apologising to the people I hurt… I own everything I did.” He clarified that his new memoir simply presents events as they genuinely occurred. This encompassed multiple rehabilitation stints, and he maintains it was miraculous he experienced just one overdose and near-death experience during his most intense partying period. Discussing his recovery, he emphasised you “have to be willing”. He explained his primary motivation for transformation was becoming a superior and more dependable father to his children, Cassandra, 41, Sami, 21, Lola, 20 and Max and Bob, 16. “I keep a [mental list] of the worst, most shameful things I’ve done, and I can look at that in my head if I feel like having a drink,” he revealed whilst confessing he has zero desire to return to his drug-fuelled past. Yet, he also frankly confessed: “Whether it’s true or not, I like to think the next hit would kill me.” He explained that at the peak of his celebrity status, when he was pocketing $1.8m (£1.3m) per episode of his popular sitcom, his behaviour became unpredictable. Previously, he had bragged about “banging seven gram rocks” of cocaine whilst declaring he possessed “tiger blood” flowing through his system. Charlie revealed he continues to develop as a person whilst attempting to forgive his past behaviour and decisions. He mentioned there are occasional moments that trigger the “shame shivers” within him. Fortunately, he noted these instances are becoming less frequent, describing this as “progress”. Following a break from performing, Charlie has confirmed his eagerness to return to television should the opportunity arise. Nevertheless, he emphasised it’s currently about managing things one day at a time. “I’m not calling all of this a comeback,” he continued whilst discussing his recent ventures. “I’m calling it a reset. I’m just living for the next moment, whatever that turns out to be.”
