SIOUX CITY — Two more students were expelled from the Sioux City Community School District on Monday.
The board held a closed session for the students, only identified as Student A and Student B. The board members voted 6-0 to expel the students for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year as recommended by the superintendent.
The two expulsions follow one expulsion that took place on Sept. 16.
Behind closed doors, board members discussed each student’s case before publicly voting to approve Superintendent Juan Cordova’s recommendations of expulsion. It was not publicly stated which schools the students were being expelled from, nor the reason.
Last year, the district expelled 26 students. Some of the expulsions were stated by the school board members to be caused by fighting.
