Chinese actor Yu Menglong, known for leading C-dramas like Eternal Love and Go Princess Go died at the age of 37 on September 11. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his management team who issued a statement on the same soon after reports started doing the rounds about his demise on the internet. He allegedly fell of a building in Beijing. Rumours surfaced on Thursday after a paparazzi wrote a now-deleted post on Yu’s death. The news spread like wild fire, sending shock waves across the Chinese entertainment industry. Post alleging Yu Menglong’s death “I got the news today that Yu Menglong, the lead actor of Eternal Love and Go Princess Go, passed away in Beijing after falling off a building. An insider told me that Yu Menglong was having a meal with 5 – 6 good friends at a friend’s house on September 9. On September 11, at around 2am, Yu Menglong went to the bedroom to sleep and locked the door from the inside. At around 6am, as his friends were leaving, they didn’t see him. When they went downstairs, they discovered his body. A neighbor who was walking their dog saw and called the police. The police has already ruled out this being a criminal case. The cause is still being investigated.” After deleting the first post, the paparazzi wrote a second one, further adding to the speculation. It read, “I got a tip this morning saying Yu Menglong has passed away after falling off a building in Beijing. When I went to the neighborhood where the incident occurred, I saw that the window on the 5th floor of the building was broken, just like what the tip said. After that, I interviewed a staff member in the neighborhood, and they confirmed the person who passed away after falling off a building was indeed male star Yu Menglong. The incident happened at 5am on the 11th. Yu Menglong fell off from the 5th floor and died instantly after hitting the concrete floor.” Facing pressure from fans on social media, Yu’s agency confirmed the news through a statement on Weibo. According to Koreaboo, it stated that police have ruled out “any criminality.” Yu Menglong’s agency statement “With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death on Sept 11. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong.” Chinese actress Yang Mi, along with Yu’s fans posted heartbreaking tributes on social media. A fan wrote, “My condolences to his family. I still can’t believe this,” another one added, “This is so heartbreaking. May he rest in peace and hopefully his family will stay strong..” About Yu Menglong Yu entered the showbiz in 2007 by participating in the talent reality show My Show! My Style!. He made his acting debut in the short film The Little Prince (2011), and went on to act in several Chinese shows, including The Legend of White Snake, Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, and Feud.
