Eimantas Stanionis Vs. Jabulani Makhense Preview

Eimantas Stanionis faces Jabulani Makhense in a catchweight of 150 pounds, as we preview this upcoming fight.

Stanionis enters into the fight with a sixth-round stoppage defeat against Jaron Ennis in a welterweight title unification bout in April. The loss meant he lost his WBA welterweight title in the first loss of his career. Meanwhile, Makhense has a 16-2-0 record. He has two wins out of his previous three fights, beating Charles Misanjo and Maiala Antonio, respectively. And with 8 knockouts to his name, he is one to watch. Before the Ennis fight, Stanionis even suggested he could retire if he lost. Given he suffered a defeat, he now has a lot to prove to silence his doubters.

“That’s the thing – it’s a lotta pressure on me. I have to win. If I lose, I probably would retire. Because I don’t think nobody would be interested in me to make fights. For like three years, there was no fights. It was disappointing. So, I don’t know. We’ll see. I feel amazing, but I’m just saying this about the boxing business. I get tired sometimes of boxing. So, that’s why I put all of my heart into this fight. It’s do or die for me, sink or swim,” Stanionis said
