Here are the Connolly Cup/ADPRO Sports Week 3 players of the week in high school football, as chosen by the selection committee:
Payton Bradley (QB-LB/Salamanca): He ran more than he threw. On 16 carries, he gained 179 yards and scored three touchdowns. He contributed four tackles (one for loss) and forced a fumble.
DJ Benker (QB/West Seneca East): Had three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.
Zach Bridenbaker (RB-LB/Depew): He gained 189 yards and scored one touchdown on 23 carries. More than 100 of those yards came after initial contact by the defense. On defense, he had eight tackles and broke up two passes.
AJ Cinquino (QB/North Tonawanda): With outstanding efficiency, he completed 13 of 15 pass attempts, throwing for 196 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 50 yards and three more scores.
Luis Diaz (LB/Jamestown): Had eight tackles and a 33-yard interception.
Kolton Fletcher (WR-DB/Medina): On eight receptions, he scored three touchdowns while gaining 149 yards. On the other side of the ball, he had 11 solo tackles, assisted on two others and had one tackle for loss.
Christian Fulgham (WR-CB/Bishop Timon): All three of his touchdowns came through the air as he caught six passes for 112 yards. He chipped in with five tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss.
Philip Gangi (QB/Williamsville South): Threw four touchdown passes while completing 19 of 28 passes for 233 yards.
Josh Guerin (QB/Cardinal O’Hara): Completed 14 of 22 pass attempts for 171 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown.
Trent Houser (OL-LB-DL/Chautauqua Lake-Westfield-Brocton): To date, the Eagles defense has given up eight points in three games. Leading the way to a second consecutive shutout, Houser had 11 tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.
Justus Kleitz (QB/Iroquois): Completed 20 of 29 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns. Became Western New York’s career leader with 7,700 passing yards. The previous record was held by St. Francis’ Jerry Hickson with 7,610 yards.
Zach Markham (OL-DL/Southwestern-Frewsburg): He made seven solo tackles. He assisted on four others and had a quarterback sack. He intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles, returning one of those fumbles for a touchdown.
Isaac Platt (RB-LB/Pioneer): He ran for a touchdown while gaining 152 yards on 27 carries. Defensively, he made 10 tackles.
Amare Ridgeway (LB/Health Sciences): Made 14 tackles and assisted on three others. He had four sacks and four tackles for loss. He also ran the ball once which resulted in a touchdown.
Michael Taylor (QB/Niagara Falls): Threw for 191 yards and a touchdown. He also gained 78 yards and scored two more touchdowns on the ground.
