West Lothian 50+ Network preparing for return of annual Pop-Up Thrift Shop

West Lothian 50+ Network is preparing for the return of its annual Pop-Up Thrift Shop. The event is taking place from Tuesday, September 23, to Saturday, September 27, and will be open daily from 10am to 4pm at the Members’ Hub in Bathgate. The event, a fixture in the charity’s calendar, is organised and run by more than 60 volunteers led by Kate Blake and Liz Wark. All proceeds will support West Lothian 50+ Network’s work, providing activities, groups and opportunities for older community across the West Lothian. The Thrift Shop is more than a fundraiser. It has become a celebration of community spirit, bringing together volunteers, members and supporters from across West Lothian to transform the Hub into a bustling shop filled with bargains and conversation. For many, it is as much about reconnecting with neighbours and friends as it is about finding a hidden treasure. Jamie Seery, Charity Manager of West Lothian 50+ Network, said: “The Pop-Up Thrift Shop is a highlight of our year. It brings the community together, raises vital funds for the charity, and is only possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteers. “Beyond the bargains, it is about people, the sense of belonging, the chance to meet others, and the pride in supporting something that makes a real difference locally.” The Network is now inviting donations of good-quality items to stock the shop, including clothing, books, toys, household goods and other saleable items. Electrical items cannot be accepted. Coat hangers and carrier bags are also appreciated. Donation drop-off times are on Friday, September 19, from 2pm to 5pm; Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21, from 10am to 5pm and Monday, September 22, from 10am to 7pm. Donations should be delivered to the Members’ Hub, located in Bathgate precinct 14 George Street, opposite the church and former cinema. For larger donations, rear access will be available during the above times. Any unsold items are always passed on to other local charity shops and good causes, ensuring nothing goes to waste and the wider community continues to benefit. The event remains one of the most anticipated dates in West Lothian’s community calendar and is expected to attract lots of visitors to Bathgate throughout the week.
