Mississippi River recreators asked to fill out Corps survey

Mississippi River recreators asked to fill out Corps survey

Boating? Fishing? Bird watching?
The Army Corps of Engineers wants to know how the public recreates on or near the Mississippi River and the Illinois River as part of a study to inform future restoration efforts, according to a news release.
An online tool with an interactive map allows river users to share how they use the Mississippi River and Illinois River and provide feedback on their conditions.
Users can submit details through a general form or by pinpointing specific locations on the map. The form asks residents to note what changes or problems they’ve noticed in waterways, such as more invasive plants or fewer animals. It also asks about access to waterways and what wildlife features or water conditions residents want to see preserved.
All information is anonymous and will be aggregated with other responses, according to the Corps. Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program scientists and engineers will use the collective data to inform habitat restoration planning and to maximize public benefits.
