Emmerdale fans convinced John Sugden has finally been rumbled after Victoria scene

Emmerdale fans were delighted on Tuesday, 16 September, as Victoria Sugden appeared to finally see through her villainous brother John Sugden’s deceit.

For weeks, she’s supported secret murderer John over her other sibling Robert Sugden. Despite Robert always having her back and even serving time after attacking his sister’s rapist six years ago, Victoria has remained sceptical of him.

In the midst of Robert’s clash with his brother John over their shared love for Aaron Dingle, John has cunningly manipulated situations so that villagers have turned against Robert. So much so that when John dragged his husband Aaron off a cliff edge and framed Aaron’s ex Robert, everyone believed John.

Robert is now behind bars, again, with no one believing his innocence. However, that could be about to change if Tuesday’s episode is anything to go by.

Robert has been accused of trying to kill Aaron and John, with Aaron still in a coma. Both John and Robert know that Aaron holds the key to revealing the truth, including Robert’s innocence, John’s guilt and the fact that Mack Boyd is in the bunker, reports the Mirror.

Victoria, along with others, firmly believe John’s lies about Robert so understandably, Robert is feeling deflated. But out of concern for Aaron’s safety, he has refused to give up on exposing what really happened.

After cutting ties with him in a recent episode, Victoria finally made the effort to visit Robert in prison on Tuesday to hear his side of the story. Robert was clearly being truthful, but Victoria, under John’s influence, simply couldn’t see it and instead chose to verbally attack him.

Robert continuously begged her to listen, insisting John was the real culprit, explaining how he’d murdered Nate Robinson and harmed Mack. He implored her to protect Aaron as “he’s next”.

Throughout most of the prison conversation, Victoria refused to even consider what Robert was telling her, pushing her pro-John stance and expressing her feelings about Robert. In fact, she stated twice that she hoped Aaron would recover and prove Robert, not John, was guilty, and that he’d be imprisoned again.

Robert didn’t allow this to affect him too much, however, as he understood he needed to rescue Aaron, not only to vindicate himself but because he recognised the danger he faced. Robert kept reminding Victoria that she knew him, and that John posed a threat to Aaron and “needed to be stopped”.

Victoria departed without uttering a word but it was evident from her expression, both as she got up from her chair and when she glanced back before leaving, that she might finally be realising that Robert could be speaking the truth.

When she arrived at the hospital and discovered from Chas and Liam that Aaron was recovering well, she made a point of watching John for his reaction. The camera honed in on his feigned delight, followed by a nervous expression.

The lens then shifted back to Victoria who seemed to have spotted this, looking rather intrigued – has she finally twigged that John pushed Aaron?

Viewers certainly thought so, flocking to social media with one exclaiming: “VIC IS SUSPICIOUS! ! FINALLY! !” Another chimed in: “THE MASK SLIPPED and VIC FINALLY NOTICED! ! !” while a third posted: “OH MY GOD! VIC IS TOTALLY HAVING DOUBTS ABOUT JOHN!”.
