Post Malone shares moving tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at London shows

Post Malone kicked off his London shows with a touching tribute to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne . The Prince of Darkness’ death aged 76 sent shockwaves around the world in July when he died just weeks after his farewell concert. Ever since, stars from across the globe have been sharing their own special tributes to the star. And as Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, wowed crowds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he performed a beautiful rendition of some of Ozzy’s biggest hits. Belting out Take What You Want, Post performed in an Ozzy emblazoned vest top. The shirt had Ozzy’s iconic look on it as well as his usual name font. The tune had previously been labelled as the best thing he’d done since Sabbath by Ozzy himself. It landed the music icon his first top 10 hit in 30 years. Speaking at the time, Ozzy told The Sun , how eager Post Malone was to get his voice on the track. He said:”I’d never even heard of this kid. “He wanted me to sing on his song ‘Take What You Want,’ so I did and then one thing led to another. I started recording a new album with Post Malone’s producer Andrew Watt. It’s only nine tracks but it was a catalyst to get me to where I am today.” Fans of Post were quick to pay their respect to the tribute, too. Among those liking his Instagram upload was YungBlud, who had a close connection with Ozzy. “That’s beautiful,” wrote one fan int he comments section. Another added: “The Ozzy Tribute was next level,” along with a hands raising and flame emoji. A new documentary on Ozzy’s last years is set for release next month month. In it, his daughter Aimiee gives a rare interview . Ozzy: No Escape From Now will be available to stream from October 7 on Paramount+. Aimee, Ozzy’s rarely seen daughter who did not appear in TV series The Osbournes and has preferred to live out of the spotlight, speaks about her father’s harrowing battles with ill health as part of the film. The documentary is billed as the “definitive account” of the final six years of his life. It comes after Black Sabbath legend Ozzy disclosed in 2020 he had received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis and he halted touring in 2023 following major spinal operations. He also suffered a fall at home in 2019 which worsened injuries from a nearly fatal quad bike accident in 2003. In the film, Aimee reflects on how her dad’s mishap in 2019 proved transformative. “He was in hospital for weeks,” she said. “To fall like that and not be able to bounce back like he had in the past, and then having to cancel the tour – that was his biggest heart-break.” Also, as a teaser for the film, Ozzy declares: “If my life is coming to an end I really can’t complain. I’ve had a great life.” Like this story? For more of the latest showbiz news and gossip, follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .
