Oluremi Tinubu marks birthday with call for national library completion

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, turned a year older on, but instead of basking in lavish personal celebrations, she asked well-wishers to redirect their gifts towards the completion of the long-abandoned National Library project.

The gesture, hailed across political and civic circles, reflects the First Lady’s trademark humility and her reputation for service-driven leadership.

Convener of the BAT Ideological Group, Comrade Bamidele Atoyebi, described her as “a woman of extraordinary compassion whose influence enriches every corner of Nigeria.”

Tinubu’s track record spans years in the Senate, where she championed legislation in support of women, youth empowerment, and social development. Through her Renewed Hope Initiative, she has extended humanitarian assistance to flood victims, widows, traders, and displaced families, while also backing the fight against tuberculosis.

Her interventions have often met Nigerians in their darkest moments. After the tragic death of 22 Kano athletes in a road crash, she reached out directly to grieving families.

In Benue, she offered relief to victims of herders’ attacks, while bursaries and grants under her initiative have empowered countless students and small business owners.

For many, her decision to prioritize the National Library on her birthday signals a broader vision for Nigeria’s future. Atoyebi noted, “Even on her special day, she chose to invest in knowledge for generations yet unborn.”

As tributes pour in nationwide, the First Lady is celebrated not only as the wife of the President but as a nation-builder in her own right.
