More Resident Evil Requiem Leaks Tease Leon Kennedy & RE9 Timeline Details

Resident Evil Requiem continues to dazzle fans and newcomers alike, based on what we’ve seen of it so far. The positive reception really takes me back to the announcement of Resident Evil 7, which returned to its more horror-oriented roots after the series had continued to lean too heavily into the campy side for some.
So far, we’ve been privy to a lot of horrifying sequences, along with the disbelief of Grace Ashcroft, who will have to acclimate to her new environment pretty quickly as the events of the game take off. But thanks to some social posts from prominent Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem, we have new info to chew on.
RE9 Leak Gives Us More Info On When It Takes Place
There’s Potentially Two Timelines
According to Dusk Golem, “most but not all” of Leon’s gameplay is allegedly set in 2020, whereas Grace’s story will mostly take place in 2028. Although the leaked eyepatch version of Leon has apparently been debunked, we will get a “grayed hair Leon” in this, based on Dusk Golem’s leaked information. Leon’s portions will potentially have more of an action focus, with “horror and atmospherics” at the forefront.
The leaker also notes that the “over-the-top stuff” like the giant Salazar statue in Resident Evil 4, as well as the mecha-tank fight in Resident Evil 8, is mostly muted. There will apparently be “some over-the-top stuff,” but “nothing of that level.” That should make fans of Resident Evil 7 happy, as this story is evidently more grounded than 8.
I think at this point, people just want to see Leon’s new character model in an updated trailer. I’m sure Capcom is already prepping the molds for the gigantic statues now.
Leon Continues To Be A Fan Favorite Character
Hopefully We Get To See His New Look Soon
Given that Chris Redfield is likely not in the game at all (unless there are some surprises in tow), Leon seems to be the leading legacy character for Resident Evil Requiem. This should make a ton of fans happy, especially those who are massive fans of Resident Evil 4, which just got a stunning remake not too long ago. Given how great RE4’s reputation is overall, it should bring in a ton of old fans, and will likely sell as well as Resident Evil 7 & 8, if not more, given how ubiquitous it is platform-wise at launch.
Remember, Resident Evil Requiem is also coming to Switch 2, and it’s not going to be a “cloud-based” release this time that turns people off. It’ll be a fully-fledged release. We’ll need to see how it actually performs closer to release, but for now, PC, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox fans can all partake in RE9’s devilish delights together.
