A close bond between Married at First Sight bride and one of the stars from Geordie Shore has been revealed.

The unique reality series, in which two strangers meet for the very first time at their own wedding ceremony, returns tonight (September 21). Now in its tenth year, a new batch of couples will see them saying ‘I do’ in front of their family and friends, to someone whose name they don’t even know at the start of the day.

Each series of MAFS then follows these newlyweds as they embark on a new journey together, hoping to find love while on their honeymoons and starting a new chapter of their lives.

In this bold experiment, they’ll live together as well as attend dinner parties with other participating couples. There are also commitment ceremonies where each couple will reveal their true feelings about their relationships.

They are supposed to be guided by relationship experts Paul C. Brunson, Melanie Schilling and Charlene Douglas who are on hand to assist the new couples with any issues they may face.

Before viewers get to know the new participants both as individuals and as couples, one of the bride’s links to another reality show has come to light.

Maeve Mathieson is one of the brides set to get hitched in the new season. While it’s not known who her groom will be just yet, one of her closest friends is a Geordie Shore cast member. It is reported that they co-founded their business CM House of Aesthetics together back in 2019.

Working as an aesthetic practitioner, Maeve has been described as a “self-confessed trouble maker” who is seeking a “mature relationship”.

The 29-year-old from Newcastle has appeared in social media posts and pictures, posing alongside Chloe Ferry. Chloe made her debut in Geordie Shore for its tenth season back in 2015.

Back in January 2023, she shared a post about taking an early morning swim with one of her friends. That friend was the future MAFS star. At the time Chloe said: ” Normally on a Saturday morning I would be waking up hungover. But not today! Me and Maeve got up at 6am and went for a dip in the North Sea.”

Maeve has also shared a snap of their pair on her social accounts. In November 2022 she posted a picture of them both dressed up at a party with the caption: “Partners in crime”.

When the cast for the latest series of MAFS UK was unveiled, Maeve turned to Instagram to announce the news. She shared a photo of herself in a wedding gown and announced: “SURPRISE. Not gonna lie….I did a thing,” adding that she “only went and got MARRIED on telly”.

Married at First Sight UK returns to E4 tonight at 9pm and streaming on Channel 4.
