Marvel Star warns Disney they could ‘break America’ if they cancel Jimmy Kimmel’s show
Marvel star Mark Ruffalo is taking a stand against the recent dismissal of late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
“The Avengers” star took to Threads to comment on a post that shared a screenshot of news that Disney’s stock dropped after dismissing the late-night talk show h sst.
“It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show,” Ruffalo wrote. “Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.”
Jill Kimmel, Jimmy’s sister, commented under Ruffalo’s post, commending the actor for standing up for her brother.
“You’re always on the correct side of history, Mark,” Jill wrote. “ Thank you for speaking up!!”
On Sept. 17, ABC announced that the “Jimmy Kimmel” show would be suspended “indefinitely,” due to comments he made about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
This isn’t the first time Ruffalo spoke out against ABC’s decision. In a clip shared to X, during the kick-off call for the “No Kings” movement, Ruffalo spoke about Kimmel’s dismissal and the state of the entertainment industry.
“We saw Jimmy Kimmel’s show was cancelled,” Ruffalo said. “We don’t know what the reasons are really. … My industry doesn’t understand what’s happening right now — but what they do understand is our freedom of speech is being attacked.”
Ruffalo, 57, is most known for his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also has credits in films like “Spotlight,” “Now You See Me,” and “13 Going on 30.”
