The Cogfly tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong almost feels like a cheat code – it’s that good. At the cost of 10 Shell Shards per Cogfly, these minions will follow you around and auto-attack any enemy in sight. Having a Cogfly out allows you to focus on dodging and learning the enemy’s moveset.

Cogfly location in Hollow Knight: Silksong
The Cogfly tool is located in the High Halls region, north of the Choral Chambers.
To enter this region, you’ll need the Clawline ability, which you’ll find at the heart of the Underworks area, The Cauldron. On top of that, you must bring one piece of Craftmetal to construct the Cogfly tool.
There are several ways to get Craftmetal in Hollow Knight: Silksong, but here are some suggestions:
Buy it from Pebb in Bone Bottom, for 60 rosaries.
Buy it from Jubilana in Songclave for 180 rosaries. You must do the “The Wandering Merchant” quest first.
Loot it from the chamber directly below the Clawline ability in The Cauldron.
Loot it in the easternmost corner of the Putrified Ducts.
When you’ve got the Clawline ability, travel to the northwest corner of the Choral Chambers, where you’ll find a room with golden rings. Jump and aim the Clawline towards these rings to grab the lowest one, then jump and use the Clawline ability again to reach the next ring. Once you’ve reached the top of the chamber, head east into High Halls.
Watch out for the enemy who’s got his own army of Cogflies circling him. Best to aim for the main enemy rather than his minions as the Cogflies will disappear after you take him down. In the next room, hang on to the turning wheel using the Clawline ability. With the help of your Cling Grip (wall jump ability), get to the highest point of this room and leave to the east.
In the next room, watch out for the two knife-wielding enemies who’ll suddenly spawn at the end. You can dash past them, but if you decide to stay and fight, don’t hesitate to jump into the water if necessary; it’ll take you back to the entrance of the chamber, but unlike the knives, it won’t harm you.
In the next room, instead of using the rotating wheel, carefully glide down – there are spikes below you! At the first opportunity, leave to the left. At the end of this chamber, interact with the board and choose “construct tool” to craft the Cogfly tool.
Before you leave this region, you might want to return to the vertical chamber to your right. Drop down to the bottom, and turn right again; you’ll find a bench, a Ventrica Station, and the High Halls map there.
