Vikings Urged to Make Surprising Quarterback Decision

In Week 3, the Minnesota Vikings came through with a dominant victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the battle of the backup quarterbacks.Despite the Vikings not having J.J. McCarthy, the offense looked phenomenal. Defensively, they were able to completely shut down Jake Browning. When all was said and done, the final score ended up being 48-10.Carson Wentz played a solid game. Wentz will start in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at least, but could he end up staying the starter even when McCarthy is back to full health?That is something that has been suggested for Minnesota.CBS Sports analyst Jeff Kerr spoke out about the decision the Vikings will have to make. He thinks Wentz gives them a better chance to win right now than McCarthy does.”Unfortunately for J.J. McCarthy, it wasn’t going to take much for Wentz to play better than him as the starting quarterback,” Kerr said. “Wentz will get another shot to start next Sunday (in London against the Steelers), but he’s better than McCarthy right now and allows the Vikings to win games. The Vikings should ride Wentz as long as they can at this point, even though they’ll likely go back to McCarthy once he’s healthy.”Wentz ended up completing 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 173 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He did a great job of managing the game and making plays when he needed to.On the ground, Jordan Mason put up a workhorse style performance. He carried the football 16 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry.
