Zubeen Garg’s Fresh Autopsy To Be Conducted In Guwahati Amid Allegations Of Foul Play

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that a fresh autopsy of legendary singer Zubeen Garg would be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation amid allegations of foul play in his death.
While addressing a press conference, the Assam Chief Minister said that the autopsy would be done at Guwahati Medical College at around 7:30 AM on Tuesday under the supervision of a team of AIIMS Guwahati.
The renowned Assamese singer passed away at 52 in Singapore after suffering a seizure while swimming at Lazarus Island last week. However, initial reports had mentioned that the singer passed away in a scuba diving accident.
Zubeen’s untimely demise plunged the state of Assam and the music industry in grief.
Drowning Confirmed As Cause Of Death
As per the death certificate issued by Singapore authorities, Zubeen Garg’s death was confirmed to be due to drowning while swimming.
While speaking to mediapersons on Sunday, Sarma said that in the death certificate sent by the Singapore High Commission, the cause of death is drowning.
He further clarified that it is different from the post-mortem report, which the government is trying to obtain “as soon as possible.”
“This is not a post-mortem report. The post-mortem report is different, and the death certificate is different. We will send the documents to CID. The Chief Secretary of the Assam Government is contacting the Singapore Ambassador to get the post-mortem report as soon as possible,” he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Assam Minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Working President, Keshab Mahanta, said that 10 bighas of land has been acquired by the state government to build a memorial dedicated to Zubeen Garg at this place.
