United States of America president Donald Trump is “very mindful of limiting any disruption” as he gets set to attend the opening day of the Ryder Cup. Organisers have politely asked the POTUS to arrive after the action kicks off at 7:10 am local time at Bethpage Black in New York. Multiple reports state Ryder Cup chiefs are itching to avoid the security nightmare which ensued after Trump’s appearance at the US Open Men’s Final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner . Beefed-up security checks resulted in the showpiece at Flushing Meadows starting 48 minutes behind schedule. Trump will attend the action between holders Europe and hosts USA on Friday and Luke Donald he can see the logic of the 79-year-old arrival happening after the foursomes have teed off. The Team Europe skipper said: “You have to respect the office and the fact he wants to come and show support is a good thing. He loves golf is all I’m going to say. We haven’t heard the definite plans. Yeah, I suppose that would make things a little bit easier. The spectators start lining up at 4am, 5am.” Ryder Cup supremo Bryan Karns admits talks remain ongoing to both get Trump on site and mitigate the disruption for the patrons. Speaking to Front Office Sports , Karns said: “It’s really just a collaboration with the Secret Service to figure out the safest way to get the president on site, and to allow him to be able to participate and enjoy and be a part of what we’re doing, but at the same time, not disrupt the general flow. “Not having something take place where the hallmark at the Ryder Cup – the first tee or some of these grandstands that we expect and would plan to be full – that we don’t impede that.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
