The Patna High Court on Wednesday directed the Congress to immediately take down the AI-generated video featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi, from all social media platforms. The court issued the order while hearing a PIL filed by advocate Vivekanand Singh. The division bench of acting Chief Justice PB Bajanthri and Justice Alok Kumar Sinha called out the AI video for defaming the Prime Minister and his mother and also issued notices to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee head, and all social media platforms where the controversial AI-generated video was circulated, instructing them to file their replies in the matter. The Controversy The controversy erupted after the Bihar Congress shared the AI video on X. The post triggered nationwide political outrage with senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad slamming the post, saying, “Is this the level Congress has stooped to? Making memes of our PM’s late mother, that too of such a cheap standard. How low will Congress fall? It’s shameful. We will make it a very big issue across the country.” Congress defended the video, stating no disrespect was intended. Other political leaders also condemned the video. JDU working president Sanjay Kumar Jha called it an “extremely vile act”, while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the video as “reprehensible”.
