Swansea City boss Alan Sheehan has shot down suggestions the club are scouring the free agent market, and has ruled out a surprise move for out-of-contract forward Dele Alli. Reports elsewhere claimed City’s part-owner Luka Modric had been speaking to potential free agents out in Italy , a suggestion that has since been heavily played down by Swans insiders. Alli’s name has specifically been mentioned as a possibility, with the 29-year-old a free agent after having his contract terminated at Italian side Como. However, a move to SA1 has been ruled out by Sheehan, who added he doesn’t foresee any movement in the free agent market for now. “I can rule that out,” he said when quizzed on links with the former Tottenham star. “I haven’t heard that one at all right now. “We’ve done our business and unless something dramatically changes. Obviously Dele Alli is a wonderful player, so I don’t want to comment anything on him or where he is, or how he’s playing etc. “But look, for Swansea City, I would say no right now.” Sheehan heads into Saturday’s clash with Hull City on the back of a busy transfer window that saw 12 players arrive at the club, a recruitment drive that has added an encouraging level of depth to the Swans’ squad. Many onlookers have now tipped Swansea for a potential top-six push on the back of their work over the last few weeks, but Sheehan insists expectations haven’t changed – internally, at least. “Not for me really, I’ve always felt from the moment I come in in February that we have to find a way of winning, I understand people talk about processes and all of that but ultimately you’ve got to find a way of picking up points along the way, and adjust it accordingly. “But my expectations haven’t changed really. “I think we want to be a competitive team in the top half of the division so that doesn’t really change, but we just want to keep getting better all the time. “I think we’ll also say that with us as a football club you want to be the best versions of yourself. So in terms of what we did, I think we did good business. “Depth-wise, I think we are in a better place than we were at the start of the window. So that’s what we want to do every window. “I think there’s a strategy the ownership want. We want to improve, we want to get better obviously. The on-pitch performances and somewhat noise and record that’s going on right now, you get attracted to better players that potentially wouldn’t have been available. “So that’s credit to everybody at the football club and the work that’s been done because I do feel like we are evolving and getting into a better place. “Hard work will never lie and I’m happy with the evolution of the football club right now.” Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here . Meanwhile, Sheehan says he can’t comment on news that director of football Richard Montague is set to leave the club . “That’s an ownership issue,” he added. “My idea is to take care of stuff on the football pitch. I’m sure you can appreciate that. And that’s what I’ve got to focus on right now. So look, no, I cannot comment. “Ultimately my remit right now is to obviously get all our players back from international duty,” he continued. “We had our first day today together with the new group since Sheffield Wednesday. A lot of players have travelled around the world, played games and we have to get them back, reassess them and then we had a really good day on the pitch today.”
