Charlie Kirk’s assassination sent shockwaves through the MAGA circles. The conservative activist was pronounced dead at 31, after a bullet struck his neck while on an on-campus debate in Utah. As the manhunt for his killer continues, several Republican politicians have expressed their condolences, including Trump, who described the incident as “a dark moment for America.”
Now, the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has paid her respects to the late right-wing activist. On Wednesday, following his passing, Leavitt honored him as “one of the first people” who believed in her. She posted a photo of herself seated beside Kirk. In the caption, she wrote, “When I ran for Congress at 23 years old, Charlie Kirk was one of the first people to believe in me and endorse my grassroots campaign.”
“That’s because Charlie Kirk believed in the potential and promise of young people across our country, and he inspired millions of them to get involved in politics and fight for our nation’s conservative values,” she continued. She honored Kirk as someone who “positively changed the course of American history.” Leavitt emphasized that following his untimely death, “his legacy will live on.”
She also expressed her condolences to the bereaved family. “I am praying that God covers Charlie’s wife, Erika, and their two beautiful children in His love. I pray they are comforted knowing Charlie is in Heaven with the Lord.”
Karoline Leavitt concluded her post with a verse. “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. John 11:25-26.”
“Rest in peace,” she added. Most of her followers praised her for her homage to Charlie Kirk. “Heartbreaking loss, sending love,” wrote one. Another added, “Beautiful Karoline. God Bless.” A third wrote, “Solidarity and praying.” Another user commented, “What a tragedy, my Karoline, my prayers for her rest in peace.”
“I am so sorry for your loss, Karoline! Our differences should evolve our society, not divide! Stay strong, America,” another added.
Charlie Kirk was truly one of a kind. A kind, loving, and courageous soul who lived what he preached. On Wednesday, Donald Trump also shared a video message addressing Americans following Kirk’s assassination. He also took to Truth Social to honor him as an “American hero.”
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” the POTUS wrote. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and I sympathize with his beautiful wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump added.
